The Clásico Venezolano was packed with fans during a dramatic and exciting Wednesday night, as Los Melenudos scored in the tenth inning to get a 5-4 win over Navegantes del Magallanes.

The debutant Harold Castro, scored the first run of the match after José Rondón hit a double to take the lead 1-0. But Daniel Mayora scored a 2-run home run to put Magallanes ahead 2-1 in the second inning.

In the fourth inning, Lenyn Sosa (.277) hit a double and level the score at 2-2. Wilfrido Jiménez with a strike out leave Pereda in third base to miss the great chance to take the lead again.

In the fifth inning, Magallanes put Álvarez at pitcher. A Magallanes error put Castro on scoring position, and Tejada hit a single to set Castro off and score for Leones del Caracas, making it 3-2. Mayora (.204) stepped up with a fly ball to the left field, letting Rosario score from third base to level the score once again.

Leones ran out winners in extra innings thanks to a moonshot from Alexander Palma and some magic from Ferrini, the league leader in batting average (.392).

On Tuesday, Leones del Caracas – one of the most popular teams in the country and winners of 20 championships in their history – had a great chance to take the lead. But Cardenales defeated them 6-2 at Estadio Olímpico de Caracas to remain at the top.
