Deportivo La Guaira off the mark for the season

Champions Deportivo La Guaira registered their first win of the new season, beating Yaracuyanos 2-0 after first-half goals from Aquiles Ocanto and Ronaldo Lucena.

Daniel Farias’ side drew their first two games of the season, but a win in their third game moves them up to second in the table in Group B. They are yet to concede this season, keeping three clean sheets.

Elsewhere in Group B

Gran Valencia lead Group B with seven points. They drew 0-0 against Puerto Cabello to drop their first points of the season.

Group A

In Group A, just three points separates the top five. Deportivo Tachira thrashed Portuguesa 3-0 to move on to six points from three games.

Late drama

In the most entertaining match of the gameweek, Zamora suffered late heartbreak, conceding in the 94th minute as they drew 2-2 against Madeira Club Lara.

Richard Fiueroa scored in the 86th minute to put Zamora 2-1 ahead, adding to his goal earlier in the half. But, dramatically, Anuar Peláez equalised in stoppage time to salvage a point for Madeira Club Lara.

It means Zamora are third with five points from three games in Group A, while Madeira Club Lara are a point and a place behind Zamora.

Group C

Monagas lead Group C with seven points, but they were held to a 1-1 draw against LALA. Juan Carlos Ortiz put the hosts ahead in the 74th minute, before they were pegged back five minutes later by a second goal of the season from LALA striker Armando Maita.

Richard Celis scored twice for Caracas, who have six points from their three games after a 3-1 win against Metropolitanos.
