The match

Daniel Bocanegra’s diving header put the visitors ahead in the 19th minute before Oscar Cardozo met Antonio Bareiro’s cross with a thumping header to score on the hour mark.

What it means

Libertad have won five of their seven games and are two points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over their rivals. Sol de America are second-bottom with five points and have lost five of their eight matches.

Nacional unable to break down 10-man River Plate

Guairena rise to second

Elsewhere, Guairena won their fourth match in their last five as they blew Guarani away in the final half-hour to win 3-0.

Salustiano Candia converted from the spot to put the visitors in front before Fernando Romero shrugged off his marker to put his side 2-0 ahead.

Jose Verdun added a third in the 82nd minute; missing a penalty but latching onto the rebound and stabbing it into the net.

What it means

Guairena have won four of their last five games and are up to second, only behind leaders Libertad on goal difference – having played a more.
