Chaumont produce comeback as Montpellier show their class

Three of the top four in the regular season came out on top in the quarter-final first legs in the play-offs as Cambrai were the only side to cause a mini-surprise.

Regular season winners Montpellier demonstrated why they are the team to beat with a 3-0 demolition of Poitiers.

Cambrai put on a brilliant display as they demolished Narbonne 3-0. Daniel Cagliari scored 20 points for his side.

Narbonne had won six of their last seven going into the first leg and will need to put in a top performance to turn the tie around.

In the most entertaining match, Chaumont came from two sets down to beat Tours 3-2. They saved two match points in the third set to bounce back brilliantly and force a final set tiebreak. Cuban player Jesus Herrera made 26 points.

Cannes, who came second in the overall table, rallied from 2-1 down to beat Tourcoing 3-2. The Dragons have now won their last four, after another impressive performance from Lincoln Williams – who scored 23 points.

The second legs will be played on Saturday when we will find out who makes the final four of the Ligue A play-offs.
