Steinbach establish gap at the top

TSV Steinbach made it three wins from their last four games as they beat relegation-threatened FCA Walldorf 2-1 to go three points clear at the top of the table.

The match

Serhat Ilhan opened the scoring in the sixth minute, before Sascha Marquet scored his 13th league goal in just 19 games from the penalty spot to double Steinbach’s lead.

Nico Hillenbrand pulled one back for FCA Walldorf in the final minute but the visitors held on to pick up their seventh away win of the season.

What it means

The league-leaders are on 42 points from 20 games, three points ahead of Ulm, who have played a game fewer. FSV Frankfurt are also three points off the top but they have a game in hand on TSV.

FCA Walldorf are fourth bottom with 22 points from 22 games. Their form has improved recently, with three wins in their last six games.

Sonnenhof in seventh heaven

There were a few postponements so not every side played at the weekend. The most striking and surprising scoreline of the weekend was a 7-1 win for Sonnenhof Grossaspach over Pirmasens. The win helped the hosts leapfrog Pirmasens in the table.

Marvin Cuni scored a hat-trick for Sonnenhof, who actually fell a goal down after three minutes. All seven goals were scored before the hour-mark.
