Both sides remain unbeaten in 2021

League leaders Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw against in-form Preußen Münster as the two best sides in 2021 extended their unbeaten runs.

Both teams have not lost in 2021 and their quality was on show in an intense game in snowy conditions.

First half

The hosts were missing their top-scorer Alexander Langlitz through suspension and fell behind in the ninth minute against the run of play when Kolbeinn Finnsson steered Tobias Raschl misdirected shot towards the far corner.

The Eagles responded almost immediately and equalised three minutes later when Gerrit Wegkamp headed Dennis Daube’s deep free kick into the bottom corner.

The hosts were taking the game to the Black and Yellows and Joel Grodowski brought a save out of Luca Unbehaun after an excellent dribble.

Dortmund II’s defence were opened up again as Gerrit Wegkamp’s through ball played Grodowski through but his angled shot was saved once more.

Second half

In the second half, Enrico Maaßen’s side were much-improved and grew into the game. Top-scorer Steffen Tigges fired over when he was found in space by Finnsson.

Grodowski missed the best chance in the game in the 55th minute when he blazed over from close range.

The final half-hour was lively but there was no further drama as both sides settled for a point.

What it means

Borussia Dortmund II remain nine points clear albeit having played a game more. They are unbeaten in 19 games, while Preußen Münster haven’t tasted defeat for 15 matches.
