Madrid edge past Crvena Zvezda

Elsewhere, rivals Real Madrid had a much tougher encounter, narrowly beating Crvena Zvezda 73-67 in a topsy-turvy match.

Zvezda led by 13 points in the first quarter and were 42-36 ahead at half time, but Los Blancos fought back and won the third quarter 23-11 to take the lead.

The hosts went 65-64 ahead with four minutes left, but Trey Thompkins scored two triples to turn the game around. He scored 14 points in total for Real Madrid.

The win puts Real Madrid 8th, while Zvezda sit 13th in the table.

Bayern beat Valencia for first time

Vladimir Lucic scored 22 points as Bayern Munich beat Valencia 90-79 in the EuroLeague.

It was the first time that Bayern had ever beaten Valencia in their history. The win was Bayern’s sixth in eight matches, and it puts them second in the table.

Lucic MVP

Lucic was named MVP of the week as he scored 22 points and also made seven rebounds for the German side. He has now scored 1000 points in the EuroLeague, becoming the 193rd player to do it.
