Barca win five in a row

Barcelona won their fifth successive game against a depleted Alba Berlin 103-67 to go top of the EuroLeague.

It was their sixth win out of seven games and the result means they leap ahead of Žalgiris, who lost 93-90 to Real Madrid.

Nikola Mirotic scored 18 points in 18 minutes for Barcelona, while Alex Abrines scored 17 in 17 minutes – including five three-pointers from six attempts.

Nick Calathes made 12 assists in his 18 minutes on the court, and Barcelona as a team made 31 assists – the most by any team this season.

Alba Berlin are bottom, having won one and lost four of their five matches.

Madrid mount comeback

Meanwhile, Real Madrid came from 66-55 down in the third quarter to beat second-placed side Žalgiris 93-90 and win back-to-back games for the first time in the EuroLeague this season.

The win was Madrid’s first away from home this season, and Žalgiris’s second defeat of seven matches this season. The Whites have three wins from seven games and are in 11th place.

Walter Tavares once again stepped up for Real Madrid – scoring 22 points and making 12 rebounds.

Facundo Campazzo also made a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists. He scored a career-high five three-pointers.

Žalgiris player Arturas Milaknis made three three-pointers to move into the competition’s all-time top 10 for triples converted with 379.

Other results

Bayern Munich beat Crvena Zvezda 74-59 to make it five wins from seven games. Wade Baldwin and Nick Weiler-Babb scored 15 points each for the hosts.

Valencia edged past Olimpia Milano 86-81 to make it four wins from six games. Sam Van Rossom scored 21 points for the winners.
