Barcelona comeback

Barcelona came back from 71-61 down with three minutes left to defeat Baskonia 72-71 to win their fourth consecutive match in the EuroLeague at the Buesa Arena.

The hosts failed to score in the final four minutes as the Barcelona defence came up trumps with Nikola Mirotić scoring 18 points and making a vital block in the final minute. Barca’s win makes it five wins out of six, as they sit second in the table. Baskonia are fourth with three wins and two defeats.

Žalgiris top of the table

In first place is Žalgiris, who beat LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 84-73 to make it five wins out of six and go top of the table on points difference.

The Lithuanian side trailed by 13 points in the second quarter, but only conceded one field goal in the third quarter to grab control of the match. It was ASVEL’s first match since October 9, because of postponements due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Zalgiris conceded just 14 points in the fourth quarter, which is the fifth time they season they have conceded 14 points or fewer in a quarter. Marius Grigonis scored 25 points, a career best for the player.

Much-needed win for Real Madrid

Real Madrid got back to winning ways in the EuroLeague, winning only their second match of the season, beating Bayern Munich 100-82.

Los Blancos scored 27 points in the first quarter and continued their dominance with Jaycee Carroll scoring 19 and Trey Thompkins contributing with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Bayern sit third in the table after their second defeat in six matches in the EuroLeague. Real Madrid are 15th.
