Bayern beat Dortmund

Bayern Munich came from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in the Bundesliga at Signal Iduna Park.

The win means Hansi Flick’s side stay top of the Bundesliga and go three points clear of Dortmund.

The match

Dortmund went ahead on the stroke of half time when Raphael Guerreiro cut the ball back for Marco Reus to finish past Manuel Neuer. It was Reus’s 11th goal against Bayern Munich in all competitions.

However, in the last minute before half-time, Bayern equalised with a deflected strike from David Alaba after an improvised free kick set-up.

Lucien Favre’s side had only conceded two goals in the Bundesliga before this game, but conceded another goal three minutes after half-time.

Lewandowski can’t stop scoring

Robert Lewandowski scored his 11th Bundesliga goal of the season when he got in front of Mats Hummels to score with a thumping header.

It was his 17th Bundesliga goal against his former club and his 13th in eight games against Dortmund. He is the all-time ‘Der Klassiker’ goalscorer with 24 goals. The Polish striker has 38 goals in 32 games in 2020.

Lewandowski set up Leroy Sane to put Bayern 3-1 up and seemingly seal all three points. But after previously missing some chances in the game, Erling Haaland rounded Neuer to set up a grandstand finish.

Reus had a chance to secure a draw but volleyed over the bar, and the three points were Bayern’s.

Stats

The champions have now scored 27 goals in seven Bundesliga matches – the most ever at this stage of a season.

Since Flick was appointed, Bayern have scored 163 goals in 49 matches – an average of 3.3 per game.

Haaland scored his 19th Bundesliga goal in 21 matches. Only Uwe Seeler with 20 goals has made a better start.

Leipzig up to second

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig jumped up to second as they beat Freiburg 3-0 to make it their best ever start to a Bundesliga season.

Angelino scored a fifth goal in all competitions with a free kick while centre-back Ibrahima Konate and Marcel Sabitzer scored the other goals.  Julian Nagelsmann’s side sit two points behind Bayern Munich in the table.

Leipzig have won all four of their home games in the league this season.

Leverkusen win thriller

Lucas Alario scored twice as Bayer Leverkusen beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-3 in a thriller to stay fourth in the table.

Gladbach led twice in the game, but Leverkusen fought back through Alario – who scored for the fourth successive Bundesliga game and has seven league goals this season.

Valentino Lazaro scored an outrageous consolation scorpion kick in the final minute of the game.
