Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah continued their dominant form in the ADNOC Pro League, both securing crucial victories in Match week 5.
Shabab Al Ahli v Bani Yas
Shabab Al Ahli remained unbeaten this season with a commanding 5-1 triumph over Bani Yas. The match started cautiously, with neither side creating clear chances until Luka Milivojevic opened the scoring in the 34th minute by heading in a precise cross from Cartabia. The momentum shifted shortly after when Bani Yas’ Joao Victor received a red card following a VAR review for a foul on Yuri Cesar, who was through on goal. This forced Bani Yas to play the remainder of the match with ten men.
After halftime, Shabab Al Ahli capitalized on the advantage, doubling their lead when Youssoufou Niakate inadvertently turned a cross into his own net. Niakate later redeemed himself, scoring for Bani Yas from Suhail Alnoobi’s excellent delivery. However, Shabab Al Ahli quickly responded. Guilherme Da Silva assisted Khalil Azmoum, whose powerful strike made it 3-1. Substitute Munas Dabbur added the fourth, assisted by Saeed Suleiman, and Saeid Ezatolahi sealed the result with a penalty to secure the 5-1 victory. Shabab Al Ahli now leads the league with 15 points, while Bani Yas sits in ninth place with 7 points.
Sharjah v Al Orooba
Meanwhile, Sharjah secured their fifth consecutive victory with a 2-1 win over Al Orooba at Khalid Bin Mohammed Stadium, keeping them level on points with Shabab Al Ahli at the top of the table. The first half offered limited chances, with Luan Pereira coming close for Sharjah and Petrus Boumal missing a key opportunity for Al Orooba just before the break.
Sharjah broke through in the 58th minute when Caio Lucas converted a penalty to take the lead. Al Orooba’s situation worsened when Appolinaire Kack was sent off shortly after, leaving them a man down. Sharjah capitalized again as Lucas scored another penalty in the 69th minute, bringing his tally to 11 goal involvements in just eight matches this season. Al Orooba, despite being down to ten men, managed a consolation goal from Abdulla Anwar in the 84th minute, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah have both displayed their strength, setting the stage for an exciting battle at the top of the ADNOC Pro League standings.
