Al Wasl SC are poised to clinch the UAE Pro League title this season, ending a wait of over a decade.
Based in Dubai, Al Wasl has played 15 games this season without suffering a single loss, accumulating 39 points in the process. The latest win puts them eight points ahead of the second-placed team, Al Ain FC.
Al Wasl 2 – 0 Sharjah
Al Wasl scored two outstanding goals to maintain their position at the top of the league table.
Both Abdelrahman Saleh and Ali Saleh each scored a goal in each half to continue Al Wasl’s unbeaten run.
Sharjah FC’s defeat leaves them 13 points behind the league leaders, currently in fifth position.
Al Ain 5 – 3 Hatta
In arguably the game of the weekend, there was an eight-goal thriller at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Ain won 5 – 3 against Hatta. Sultan Saeed Alshami scored two of Al Ain’s goals as they solidified their second-place position in the championship.
Despite an injury to key striker Kodjo Laba, they didn’t miss his scoring touch. Omar Atzili, Alejandro Romero, and Yhia Nader also contributed alongside Alshami to the score line.
Al Ain now focuses their attention on the last-16 of the AFC Champions League, where they will face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nasr FC.
Al Wahda FC 3 – 2 Al Jazira
Al Wahda FC secured a 3-2 victory over Al Jazira in a thrilling encounter at Al Nahyan Stadium.
