Derby delight for Inter
Inter Milan made a huge statement in Serie A as they won the top-of-the-table clash in the Milan derby 3-0 to go four points clear of their rivals.
Romelu Lukaku assisted one and scored one as Antonio Conte’s side became strong favourites to lift the Serie A title for the first time since 2010.
First half
The Belgian put in a teasing cross for his strike partner Lautaro Martinez to head home in the fifth minute after he was left unmarked in the box.
Theo Hernandez shot just wide before Ivan Perisic was denied by Gianluigi Donarumma and Martinez hit the rebound over the bar.
Second half
Milan top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic was denied by two superb stops by Samir Handanovic as the Inter goalkeeper kept his side ahead.
The Nerazzurri then broke with pace and carved AC Milan open with a brilliant team move that saw Martinez score in the 57th minute from close range after a Perisic pass.
Lukaku scored a fantastic solo goal in the 66th minute, picking the ball up 40 yards from goal and powering past the Milan defence to finish into the bottom corner. He is now top scorer in the Serie A with 17 goals.
What it means
It was Inter’s fourth consecutive win in Serie A, as they go four points clear of their nearest rivals. Milan have lost their last two without scoring.
