0-0 at Stamford Bridge

It finished goalless at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur with the draw keeping Spurs at the top of the league. The match contained very few chances in what was a cagey London derby.

Stats

Jose Mourinho’s side are top on goal difference with 21 points from 10 games while Chelsea are two points behind in third.

Chelsea are unbeaten in the Premier League since the 20th of September and have conceded only once in their last five league games.

Spurs’ four match winning run ended with a draw but they have kept a clean sheet in four consecutive games.

It was the first game they’ve not scored in since the opening day of the season. They have gained 13 points from five games away from home this season – their most in their opening five games of a campaign since 1991/92.

Edouard Mendy has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League this season with five, despite playing only six games.

Liverpool concede late penalty

Pascal Gross scored a controversial late penalty to salvage a point for Brighton against Liverpool.

The match

Referee Stuart Attwell did not initially award the penalty but after reviewing the foul by Andy Robertson on Danny Welbeck at the monitor, he gave the penalty.

Brighton had earlier missed a penalty in the first half as Neal Maupay hit the spot-kick wide from 12 yards.

Mohamed Salah then had a goal disallowed by VAR for a tight offside. It took until the hour mark for Liverpool to go ahead with Diogo Jota scoring his ninth goal for the club.

He received a pass from Salah and burst past two defenders before finding the bottom corner with a low shot.

Sadio Mane thought he had doubled Liverpool’s lead but like Salah, had a goal disallowed by VAR for straying offside.

The Seagulls then found a late leveller from the spot to snatch a point and remain 16th.

Liverpool are second, only behind Tottenham on goal difference.

City hammer Burnley

Elsewhere, Man City hammered Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad for the fourth time in a row in all competitions (third straight 5-0 win in the league).

Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick for the Blues who had only scored 10 goals in their first eight league games before Saturday.

Benjamin Mendy scored his first City goal while also Ferran Torres scored his first Premier League goal for City.

Stats

City have now scored 27 times in six matches against Burnley at the Etihad and have won their past seven meetings by an aggregate score of 28-1.

Pep Guardiola’s side are only the second in league history to win four successive home games by five or more goals against the same opponent.

Leeds win at Goodison for first time in 30 years

Meanwhile, Leeds beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park to win their first game in four.

Raphinha scored his first goal of the season in the 79th minute to condemn Everton to four losses in five games.

Stats

Marcelo Bielsa’s side move up to 11th in the table. They had 13 shots in the first half – the most by any side in a half this season.

The Toffees haven’t kept a clean sheet since the opening day of the season.
