Liverpool take on Chelsea

Liverpool lock horns with Chelsea at Anfield in a crucial top-four battle in the Premier League.

Just a point separates the two sides with Chelsea a point ahead of their rivals in fifth place.

Liverpool form

Liverpool halted a run of four successive Premier League defeats with a comfortable 2-0 win against Sheffield United last weekend.

Their home form has been disastrous since their 68 game unbeaten run was ended by Burnley.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost their last four matches at Anfield, as many as they had in their first 100 under Klopp, conceding eight goals. They have never lost five consecutive home games in their history.

The Reds have gained two points from their last six games at Anfield, scoring just twice.

The reigning champions have taken just nine points from their last seven games.

Chelsea form

Chelsea have begun the Thomas Tuchel era with confidence. The German has made a good start to his Chelsea career and is unbeaten in his first nine matches.

They drew 0-0 with Manchester United on Sunday in a drab encounter that highlighted the improvement in Chelsea’s defensive game, but also their need for more goals.

Only Man City have collected more points (21) than Chelsea (15) during the first seven league games of Tuchel’s reign.

The Blues have have won four of their last five away games in all competitions.

Head-to-head

Liverpool have won each of the last four Premier League meetings with Chelsea, scoring 11 goals and conceding four.
