The match
The Scotsman arrowed a shot into the bottom corner after 67 seconds, and then ran onto Anthony Martial’s pass to finish into the corner a minute later.
Bruno Fernandes made it three after 20 minutes, slamming a powerful strike past Illan Meslier.
Victor Lindelof increased the hosts’ lead, tapping in at the back post from Anthony Martial’s flick on at a corner.
Liam Cooper reduced the deficit with a header but Daniel James and a Fernandes penalty in the second half put United 6-1 up.
Stuart Dallas curled in a consolation goal for Leeds to complete the scoring.
Stats
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side go into third, five points behind Liverpool with a game in hand. Leeds are in 14th.
It was only United’s second win at home in the Premier League, and McTominay’s opening goal was the first the Red Devils had scored from open play since Crystal Palace at home in September.
They had only scored three league goals at home before the win.
Man United scored six goals in a single Premier League game for the first time since their 8-2 win over Arsenal in August 2011.
Leeds have conceded more set-piece goals than any other Premier League team this season (14).
