Roda beat De Graafschap again

The Eerste Divisie began last weekend and the most notable result of the weekend was a 3-0 thumping of De Graafschap by Roda.

De Graafschap, who missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of last season and then were dealt further heartache as they lost in the play-offs to Roda, were stunned at home by Jurgen Streppelโ€™s side.

The match

De Graafschap dominated possession and the shot count but Roda were clinical and scored three of their four shots on target.

Denzel Jubitana marked his debut in style scoring a brace. He opened the scoring in the 48th minute and then added a second just eight minutes later.

Patrick Pflรผcke drove at the hostsโ€™ defence before finding Niek Vossebelt, whose searching cross was half-cleared and Jubitana was on hand to score from close range.

His second was another simple finish; Fabian Serrarens attempted to play a through-ball but a Graafschap midfielder challenged him and inadvertenly found the forward, who cooly finished into the net when through on goal.

Pflรผcke scored the pick of the goals in the 88th minute with a brilliant hit from outside the box to seal the win.

It was the ideal start for Roda, while it was a miserable one for new manager Reinier Robbemond.

Den Haag & Den Bosch both win as Jong AZ produce comeback

Den Haag, who were relegated from the Eredivisie last season after finishing bottom with just four wins, made the perfect start with a comfortable 2-0 win against Jong Ajax.

Bosnian Amar ฤ†atiฤ‡ broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a powerful shot into the bottom corner, and then substitute Thomas Verheydt headed in with four minutes remaining to secure the three points for Den Haag.

Elsewhere, Den Bosch beat Helmond Sport 2-0, while Jong AZ scored twice in the last 16 minutes to turn a 1-0 deficit into their favour and win 2-1ย against Almere.

Van Schuppen saves the day

Boris van Schuppen equalised in the 91st minute on his debut to salvage a point in the last minute for NAC Breda against VVV Venlo as they drew 2-2.

The 19-year-old substitute scuffed a shot into the bottom corner to spark delirious scenes in the away end, the first time an away end has been present in the Netherlands for almost 18 months.
