The Apertura season of the Mexico Liga Premier finished last weekend with the final eight positions confirmed. The top four of Group A and B progress to the quarter-finals of the play-offs.

Group A

Alacranes de Durango finished off their season with style as they hammered Mazorqueros 4-0. They came top of the Group A table with 52 points and 15 wins from 22 games. The group winners conceded just 15 goals in the 22 matches and are unbeaten in their last eight games.

Reboceros de la Piedad finished second but were thumped 3-0 by Gavilanes in their final game as they played out a dead rubber ahead of the play-offs.

Jorge Guerrero López’s side finished with 47 points in Group A, a point clear of Colima and Gavilanes – who make up the top four. All four sides were guaranteed a play-off place going into the final few weeks.

Group B

In Group B, Cruz Azul Hidalgo stormed Group B with 59 points from 24 games. Joaquin Moreno’s men beat Azores 3-2 in a thrilling match that capped off their excellent Apertura season.

Inter Playa del Carmen thrashed Ciervos 8-0 to go into the play-offs full of confidence.

Irapuato finished on the same points as Inter Playa – 57– and also recorded a morale-boosting win, hammering Cañoneros Marina 6-0.

The final play-off place went to Cafetaleros de Chiapas II. They were beaten 4-2 in their final game by Aguacateros.

Play-offs

The quarter-finals are seeded so the team that came first in Group A play the team who came fourth in Group B.

Therefore, Alacranes de Durango will play Cafetaleros de Chiapas II.

Cruz Azul Hidalgo face Gavilanes, Irapuato meet Reboceros de la Piedad and Inter Playa del Carmen take on Colima.

The ties are two-legged and will take place between the 17th of April and the 25th of April.
