On to the semi-finals

The quarter-final second legs of the Mexico Liga Premier were as tense and eventful as expected.

Irapuato score four to underline their credentials

Only one of the ties was won with something to spare as Irapuato scored three times in the second half to win 4-1 against Reboceros de La Piedad (5-2 on aggregate) and advance to the semi-finals.

The match

Reboceros took the lead after 16 minutes to go 2-1 up on aggregate after Gerardo Lopez but Chupi Sandoval equalised ten minutes before half-time.

Six minutes into the second half, Jaidivert Hurtado put Irapuato ahead, and they never looked back.

Marco Granados headed in a third midway through the second half, before captain Alberto Garcia added a fourth with eight minutes remaining.

There were dramatic celebrations in the dressing room after the win.

Inter Playa edge through to face Irapuato

Irapuato will play Inter Playa del Carmen in the semi-finals, who went through on away goals after a 1-1 draw against Colima. Inter Playa fell behind to a Kevin Chaurand goal but Patricio Zerecero levelled the scores and they managed to hold firm, via the two away goals they scored in the first leg.

Group 1 and 2 winners face each other

The winners of Group 1 and Group 2: Alacranes de Durango and Cruz Azul Hidalgo, will meet in the semi-finals after the two sides edged through to the final four.

Arturo Sanchez broke the deadlock for Cruz Azul in the 62nd minute as they won 1-0 against Gavilanes in the second leg after a goalless first leg.

Alacranes drew 0-0 at home against Cafetaleros de Chiapas II and went through on away goals.
