Kedah FA qualify for AFC Cup

Kedah FA have qualified for the AFC Cup 2021 (Asia’s secondary club football tournament) after beating Perak 3-2 to cement second place.

The win sparked celebrations from all the team as they held on to second place and improved on last season’s finish of fourth.

Kedah took the lead through Liberian forward Kpah Sherman in the 28th minute and doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Malaysian midfielder Fadzrul Danel scored. Perak fought back and scored two quick-fire goals through Leandro Dos Santos.

Just after the hour mark, centre-back Renan Alves’s thumping header from a corner proved to be the winning goal for Kedah on the final day of the season. Terengganu won 2-1 against Pahang to finish the season in third place, their highest finish since 2011.

Felda United disband?

Meanwhile, Felda United may have played their last ever game in Malaysian Football, losing 6-1 to Selangor. In a statement, they have said they are disbanding with financial problems seemingly the issue. If they do continue as a club, they will play in the Premier League after being relegated this season.

Without a win all season, Royal Malaysian Football Club (PRDM) finished bottom. They were beaten 4-1 by PJ City on the final day.
