Ligue A volley round-up: Cannes up to second, Montpellier also win

Cannes vs Toulouse

With games postponed due to COVID-19, Cannes took advantage and moved up to second in Ligue A after a 3-1 (25-19, 29-27, 23-25, 25-20) win against Toulouse.

The win puts Cannes level on points with Tourcoing at the top of the league, although they have played two more matches. The loss ends Toulouse’s five match winning run and means they sit fifth with 11 points from seven games.

Lincoln Williams scored 21 points for the Dragons, who made 16 blocks in total – including five for Taylor Averill. Averill scored 18 points and was named MVP of the match.

Montpellier win

Montpellier won their fourth consecutive match as they beat Cambrai 3-0 (25-11, 29-27, 25-15) to go fourth in the league.

Other results

Elsewhere, Ajaccio lost 3-1 at home to Sete to make it seven losses out of seven for the bottom-placed side.

Narbonne beat Nantes 3-1 to make it four wins out of five, while Nantes have lost six of their seven games. The visitors made 11 aces in the match.
