Fecha 12 of the Liga Profesional included an Atletico Tucumán loss for the first time this season.
Boca Juniors and River Plate both grabbed important victories, while Gimnasia closed the gap on the league leaders.
Here’s all the Liga Profesional action from Argentina.
Tucumán’s unbeaten streak comes to an end
Atletico Tucuman finally lost a match but they remain top of the division. Their defeat came at the hands of Arsenal Sarandi.
Arsenal took the lead in the 40th minute when Sebastian Ariel Lomonaco’s shot squeezed past Carlos Lampe. However, Tucuman got one back just before halftime when Matias Orihuela headed in Bruno Bianchi’s flick-on.
El Arse struck back early in the second half through Gonzalo Goni who bundled the ball in from a corner. It went from bad to worse for Tucuman as Bianchi was sent off for a second bookable offence.
The 3-1 victory was sealed by Alexander Diaz in added time as he tapped in after Lampe had initially saved a strike from Facundo Kruspzky.

Even though they played with ten men for a part of the match, Tucuman still had 60% possession. Both teams were clinically poor: Arsenal had 17 shots with 4 on target while Tucuman had 18 shots with just 1 on target.
Tucuman will look to get back to winning ways when they face Central Cordoba in Fecha 13.
Boca bounce back (again)
After a defeat in their last match, Boca responded well with a 2-1 victory over Platense.
They took the lead in just the 12th minute when Oscar Romero’s free-kick flew into the top corner off the crossbar. Romero then got his and his team’s second as he headed in a cross from Sebastian Villa just before halftime.

Nicolas Morgantini got one back for Platense in the 55th minute as he stabbed the ball in. It was game over for Platense when Ramiro Gonzalez was sent off in the 83rd minute.
Hugo Ibarra’s side were deserved winners with 57% possession as well as 20 shots (6 on target).
The next round sees Boca come up against Racing in a tasty fixture.
Late River winner crushes Independiente
River Plate beat Independiente 1-0 thanks to a very late goal from Matias Suarez. It came in the 93rd minute when the ball fell to Suarez, who poked the ball into the bottom corner to seal the win.

Luis Suarez may have chosen to sign for Uruguayan side Nacional instead of River, but Marcelo Gallardo’s side already has a Suarez to score winning goals for them.
It was a much improved performance for Marcelo Gallardo’s side, who should have won the game more convincingly. Los Millonarios had 67% possession and 19 shots to Independiente’s 11.
River Plate will play Newell’s Old Boys next weekend as they look to make it two wins on the bounce.
Gimnasia up to second
With Tucuman suffering their first defeat, Gimnasia closed the gap between the two sides to just one point as they defeated Godoy Cruz 2-0.
El Lobo took the lead in the 61st minute when Brahian Aleman fired his penalty straight down the middle and into the net.
They sealed the victory in added time when Aleman’s cross was slotted in by Nicolas Contin.
Gimnasia had 44% possession but was slightly more effective when it came to shots with 4 on target from 16 attempts while Godoy Cruz had 12 shots with 3 on target.
Gimnasia face Velez Sarsfield in their next game, who will have one eye on the second leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter final against Talleres Cordoba.
Rosario Central suffer back to back defeats
Carlos Tevez’s Rosario Central were defeated by Tigre 3-1. Tigre took the lead in the first minute through a tap-in by Alexis Castro.
Rosario levelled in the 15th minute through Gino Infantino but a brace from Mateo Retegui sealed the victory for Tigre.
