River sweep away Central Cordoba
After drawing their last game 0-0 with Arsenal Sarandi, River Plate convincingly beat Central Cordoba 3-0.
Marcelo Herrera’s shot-cross was turned in by Pablo Solari to give River the lead in the 11th minute.
Their lead was then doubled when Juan Fernando Quintero’s corner was headed in by Miguel Borja four minutes later.
The victory was secured when in the 60th minute, when Bruno Zuculini headed in from a Nicolás de la Cruz corner.
It was a deserved victory for Marcelo Gallardo’s side who had 60% of possession. Scoring from corners was crucial to Los Millonarios’ win, and they had 9 corners to Cordoba’s 3. Los Millonarios face Tigre in their next game.
Late drama for Boca
Boca Juniors defeated Defensa y Justicia 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Luis Vazquez.
In the 92nd minute, Sebastian Villa played in Vazquez, whose shot trickled into the bottom corner to win the game for his side.

Tucuman’s form continues
Atletico Tucuman kept their place at the summit of the Liga Profesional as they destroyed Barracas Central 4-0.
Cristian Menendez opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with an exquisite bicycle kick.
Remember Veracruz’s Polaco Menéndez? Well, he’s scoring bicycle kicks at the summit of the Argentine league. His Atlético Tucumán leads the top flight table.

Early in the second half, Menendez turned provider as he played in Ramiro Ruiz Rodriguez who finished into the bottom corner. In the 59th minute, Joaquin Pereyra was shaped to cross but with the goalkeeper, Maximiliano Gagliardo out of position managed to fire the ball into the back of the net.
In additional time, Mateo Coronel made it four as he lobbed Gagliardo with an effort from inside his own half.
There were some fantastic goals in a great performance for Tucuman who actually had less possession with 48% but had 7 shots on target to Barracas’ 2.
Tucuman face Boca Juniors in their next game which will definitely be one to watch this weekend.
Racing lose to San Lorenzo
Two Grandes facing off is always going to be an interesting encounter and we got just that as San Lorenzo beat Racing 2-1 at El Cilindro.
Santo took the lead in the 51st minute when Andres Vombergar knocked the ball down to Juan Ignacio Mendez who fired into the bottom corner.
The home side were reduced to ten men seven minutes later when Tomas Chancalay who had only been on the pitch for twelve minutes was shown a red card for a stamp on Agustin Giay.
Remarkably, Fernando Gago’s side equalised in the 65th minute when Enzo Copetti headed in a Eugenio Mena cross.
However, the visitors retook the lead when Vombergar ran through and chipped the ball over Gabriel Arias.
It went from bad to worse for La Academia as they were reduced to nine men as Leonardo Sigali was given his marching orders after a strong challenge on Adam Bareiro.
Despite ending the game two men light, Racing had 65% possession but only managed 1 shot on target to San Lorenzo’s 6.
