For the first time in their history, Carabobo FC clinched the championship of the Torneo Apertura of FUTVE.
Under the leadership of Spanish coach Diego Merino, the team from Valencia triumphed over Metropolitanos with a 3 – 0 victory in the final of the Torneo Apertura of the Liga Futve. The match took place at the Misael Delgado stadium in Valencia city.
The first half of the match concluded with a 0 – 0 draw. However, the game’s dynamics shifted in the second half. At the 75th minute, defender Leonardo Aponte broke the deadlock with a 1-0 score. Seven minutes later, Juan Carlos Ortiz extended the lead to 2-0 with a successful shot.
Despite being awarded a penalty, Metropolitanos failed to convert it into a goal. Angelo Lucena failed to convert the penalty kick. In the 97th minute, Carabobo seized the opportunity for a counterattack. Franner López scored, bringing the final score to 3-0.
Carabobo are now set to compete in the absolute final, aiming to secure their first star in Venezuelan soccer. The team will also participate in the upcoming Copa Libertadores de América 2025.
