Forest Green lose at home

League Two leaders Forest Green were beaten 2-0 at home by West Country rivals Swindon to suffer their second league defeat of the season.

Harry McKirdy gave the visitors the lead in the 54th minute when he volleyed in from a Ben Gladwin cross.

Tyreece Simpson doubled Swindon’s lead nine minutes from time after he was played through by McKirdy.

Swindon were indebted to goalkeeper Lewis Ward who made a string of fantastic saves to keep Swindon ahead. His day got even better when he saved Josh March’s penalty in stoppage time to preserve a clean sheet for his side.

Harrogate score six

Harrogate cut the lead at the top to just one point after they thrashed Scunthorpe 6-1.

Town scored five goals before half-time as they blew the bottom side away.

Jack Muldoon and Alex Pattison both scored braces, while Jack Diamond added another in a rampant first-half showing.

Harry Davis grabbed a consolation before Danilo Orsi made it 6-1 with a penalty.

The two sides couldn’t be going in more opposite directions; Harrogate have scored 23 goals, the most in the division, while Scunthorpe have won just one of their last 24 matches and are sat in rock-bottom after 11 games.

Rowe seals sensational Sutton win

Promoted side Sutton United won their third game in a row to move into the play-off places after a dramatic stoppage time winner from Coby Rowe saw them beat Port Vale 4-3.

Sutton were 2-0 down following first-half goals from Michael Smith and Jamie Proctor but they hauled themselves back into the game to level with 20 minutes remaining.

Vale then regained the lead when Tom Conlon struck but a remarkable ending took place as Will Randall equalised in the 87th minute and then Coby Rowe rifled home in stoppage time to secure an extraordinary win.

Other results

Elsewhere, Connor Wilkinson came off the bench to score in the 95th minute for Walsall and condemn Salford City to their fifth defeat of the season.

Hartlepool edged past Northampton 2-1 after a late goal from Luke Molyneux, while Crawley won 1-0 at Rochdale.

How it stands

Forest Green remain top after their defeat but the lead was reduced to just a point, while Swindon are up to third. Sutton’s three game winning run has seen them move into the play-off spots. Hartlepool have dropped to 24th with Oldham a point above them.
