Italian Superlega round-up: Perugia top table as Volley Lube come from two sets down to win

Perugia win fourth match in a row to stay top

Sir Safety Conad Perugia lead the Italian Superlega table after winning their fourth consecutive game against Gas Sales Piacenza 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-21).


Top-scorers

Aleksandar Atanasijevic scored 15 points and was named MVP of the match, while Sebastian Sole and Oleh Plotnytskyi added a further 10 points.

The win keeps Perugia at the top of the table with 33 points from 12 games.


Volley Lube win thriller

Rivals Volley Lube had a much harder match against Porto Rubur Costa, coming back from two sets down to win 3-2 (21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-8). The win is their third in succession and it puts them two points behind Perugia.


Top-scorers

Osmany Juantorena contributed with 19 points and four aces as he was awarded MVP of the game. Yoandy Leal top-scored with 28 points for the visitors; he has 180 for the season – ranked ninth highest in the division.


Other results

Volley Calipo are third in the table. They bounced back from their defeat against Perugia to beat Modena 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18).


Fixtures

In round 14, Perugia travel to third-bottom Kioene Padova, while Volley Lube visit Trentino. Third plays fourth as Volley Calipo host Revivre Milano.
