Volley Lube go top of the league
Cucine Lube Civitanova won their eighth straight game beating Leo Shoes Modena 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-23) to move to the top of the Italian SuperLega.
Lube go two points clear ahead of Perugia, who did not play Milano at the weekend because of positive COVID-19 tests at the club. It was Lube’s sixth 3-0 win of the season.
Yoandy Leal once again stepped up for Lube – scoring 13 points overall and winning the MVP award for the match. Kamil Rychlicki scored 12 for the league-leaders.

Leal has 112 points for the season while Rychlicki has 105. Both players are in the top 15 for most points scored in the division.
Modena drop down to fifth with four wins and three defeats from their seven matches.

Nimir Abdel-Aziz scored 19 points for Trentino as they beat bottom side Top Volley Latina 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 22-25, 26-24).

Abdel-Aziz moves to the top of the leaderboard for most points scored with 154 points from seven matches.
It was Trentino’s first win in three matches while Top Volley Latina have lost seven of their eight matches.

Elsewhere, Volley Calipo beat Volley Monza 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22) to move into the top four of the league. American Torey DeFalcao scored 14 points, including six break points and was named MVP of the match.
Lastly, Gas Sales Piacenza came from a set down to beat Kioene Padova 3-1 (16-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-22). It was their first home win of the season after losing their three previous home matches. The defeat was Padova’s sixth in a row.
