Dortmund put on a show as they edge closer to promotion
Borussia Dortmund II extended their unbeaten run to 20 games as they thumped Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-1 to maintain their 11-point lead at the top of the Regionalliga West table.
The Black and Yellows were playing their third league game in six days; an intense period that they had negotiated well.
First half
They took the lead after 20 minutes, Dominik Wanner was found in space down the left and he pulled the ball back for Richmond Tachie to slot home from close range.
It was his tenth goal of the league season.
Dortmund talisman Stefen Tigges doubled his side’s lead just nine minutes later with a clinical finish after he was picked out by Tobias Raschl in the box.
Second half
It was an extremely comfortable match for Enrico Maaßen’s side, who added a third goal just after the hour mark.
Gladbach II committed men forward in search of a goal and the visitors countered with pace. Richmond Tachie carried the ball into the box and the ball broke for Tigges, who selfishly played in Felix Passlack to score.
Captain Michael Lieder reduced the deficit with a near post header, but the visitors still poured forward and scored a fantastic fourth after excellent link up play between Tigges and Tachie.
Kolbeinn Finnsson fired a pass in to the path of Tigges, but his dummy to let the ball run to Tachie bamboozled the hosts’ defence.
Tigges continued his run into the box as Tachie played the ball first time into the striker. The forward made no mistake as he finished with precision to score his 20th goal of the season.
What it means
