Freiburg in charge at the top

Freiburg II beat TSV Steinbach 1-0 to win their third consecutive game and maintain their six-point lead at the top of the German Regionalliga Südwest.

Guillaume Furrer scored the decisive winner after 20 minutes, finishing past Raphael Koczor from close range after he was set through on goal by Emilio Kehrer.


What it means

The league leaders have now won 20 games out of 31 in the league and have kept three consecutive clean sheets. Steinbach drop to fourth and are without a win in five games.


Firat scores stunning volley to keep Offenbach in touch

Kickers Offenbach kept up the pressure on Freiburg II with a convincing 2-0 win against FC Giessen. Serkan Firat opened the scoring with a stunning volley after a precise long pass by Denis Huseinbasic

Malte Karbstein added a second with three minutes remaining to settle the nerves for Sreto Ristic’s side.

What it means

Offenbach are six points off the top, while Giessen are just a point off safety.


Ulm hit Hoffenheim for four

Elsewhere, Ulm beat Hoffenheim II 4-1 to remain third in the table, eight points off the top. Hoffenheim II are in relegation trouble after their 15th defeat of the season.
