Barring a collapse in the final 11 games, they are set to retain their title and become champions for the 31st time.
The win was a narrow one against HIFK, with Filip Valencic scoring in the 40th minute to secure victory.
The hosts went down to 10 men as Macario Hing-Glover was sent off at the beginning of the second half. The champions held out with ease to keep their seventh clean sheet of the season.
Toni Koskela’s side have conceded just five goals this season, and have scored 22.
HIFK dropped to sixth in the league after the defeat.
The league-leaders extended their advantage at the top after rivals Inter Turku dropped points.
Inter Turku slip up again
Inter Turku drew 1-1 at home to FC Lathi. They went ahead after four minutes when Benjamin Kallman, but were pegged back when Senegalese forward Macoumba Kandji equalised six minutes after half-time.
Jose Riveiro’s men have now dropped points in three of their last four games, and are now level on points with KuPS, who won their fifth successive match – beating Oulu 2-0.
