EuroLeague week four round-up: Žalgiris top of the table, Olympiacos win on the buzzer and Barcelona win in overtime

Overtime win for Barca

Barcelona won 97-89 in a dramatic overtime victory against Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague.

Kyle Kuric has only recently returned from injury and played a huge part in the win – scoring 14 points and four three-pointers. Nick Cathales also drained four three-pointers for the Spanish side and got six rebounds and six assists.

The duo helped Barcelona come back from 55-44 down to lead 56-55 in the third quarter. Cory Higgins collected 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Barcelona. Marcus Foster top-scored with 24 for Panathinaikos.

Barcelona have now won three of their four matches and are in fifth place, while the Greek side are in 13th with one win and two defeats. Barcelona face Real Madrid in the ‘El Clasico’ next on Friday, Panathinaikos play Fenerbahçe.

Žalgiris make 100% start

Žalgiris are top of the table after they beat Anadolu Efes 89-73 to make it four wins out of four for the Lithuanian side.

Efes, who had the best record from last season before the season was abandoned, have only won one of their four matches.

Nigel Hayes scored 17 points for the home side, while Bryant Dunston scored 20 and added two assists and two blocks.

Žalgiris face Valencia on Thursday at home, while Efes also play at home, against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.

Bayern comeback

Bayern Munich produced an unlikely comeback to defeat Fenerbahçe 75-71. They trailed 45-25 at half time and outscored the Turkish side 50-26 in the final two quarters.

Vladamir Lucic scored 18 points for the German side, while Jalen Reynolds scored 17 points and eight rebounds. Bayern host Olympiacos on Friday.

Olympiacos win at the buzzer

There was also a thrilling win for Olympiacos against Maccabi Tel Aviv, winning 85-82.

It was their third straight win in the EuroLeague and was won in the final seconds when Aaron Harrison scored a three-pointer at the buzzer.

ALBA beat CSKA

Meanwhile, ALBA Berlin claimed their first ever win against CSKA, winning 93-88.

It was the German side’s first win of the EuroLeague season. Simone Fontecchio scored 20 points for ALBA Berlin.

Wins for Baskonia and Milan

Baskonia defeated Khimki 77-60 to move into seventh. Rokas Giedraitis and Achille Polanara top-scored with 20 points for the Spanish side.

Milan beat Real Madrid 78-70 to end a 14-game losing streak against the Spanish team and win their third game of the season. Sergio Rodriguez scored 25 for the Italian side.
