Egypt Premier League round-up: Al Masry edge past El Gouna to go second

Al Masry bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Ismaily with a 1-0 win against El Gouna to go second in the table.

Ahmed Gomaa came off the bench to score the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute.


What it means

It was only their second win from their last seven games and their seventh win of the season with Ali Maher’s side drawing eight of 18 games. They are four points off Zamalek in top, but the league leaders have four games in hand.

El Gouna are on a poor run of form with no wins in their last eight league games. They are comfortable in 11th though and are seven points clear of the bottom three.


Creditable draw for El Entag

Elsewhere, bottom side El Entag El Harby drew 1-1 against Ceramica Cleopatra. The strugglers took the lead in the first half through Ahmed Ali but were pegged back by an equaliser from Salah Gomaa.

El Entag El Harby stay bottom but are only three points off safety. Ceramica Cleopatra remain sixth.
