Anorthosis win to go top

Anorthosis ended a run of two games without a win as they beat Pafos 1-0 to go top of the league, ahead of the weekend matches for their rivals.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, when Anorthosis top-scorer Giorgi Kvilitaia won the ball on the right hand side and laid the ball off on the edge of the area for Renato Margaca to strike. Margaca’s shot swerved away from the keeper and found the net.

What it means

The result means Anorthosis go top on 30 points, but Apollon are a point behind and have two games in hand. Pafos have now lost back-to-back games and sit seventh.

Limassol sides

Apollon Limassol host Ermis Aradippou on Sunday, looking to go back to the top of the league. They have won their past two games away from home, however their home form is a concern – losing their last two.

Ermis are 10th and have drawn their past five league games. They drew 1-1 at home to Anorthosis last weekend.

AEL Limassol travel to Nea Salamis looking to win their fourth league game in a row. Of their nine wins this season, only three have come away from home and they have lost four of their seven visits this season.
