Costa Rica Liga de Ascenso round-up: Apertura champions Guanacasteca make winning start

Chin scores last gasp winner

Felipe Chin scored a 92nd minute winner as Apertura champions Guanacasteca made a 100% start to the Clausura season.

The Costa Rica side have won their first two matches in Group A beating Marineros de Puntarenas 2-0 in their first game and then Puntarenas 1-0.

Fabian Oviedo and Luigui Muñoz scored the goals in their opening day win over Marineros de Puntarenas.

Group B

In Group B, two sides have made an 100% start. Municipal San Ramon and Deportiva Carmelita have both made winning starts. San Ramon beat AD Cofutpa 3-1 on Sunday, while Deportiva Carmelita edged past Cariari 2-1.

Group C

In Group C, no side has won both games with Barrio Mexico leading the table with a win and a draw from their two games.

Barrio Mexico drew 3-3 against Turrialba in a thrilling game. They fell two goals down but then forced a brilliant comeback to go 3-2 up with Steven Cardenas, Ismael Gomez and Kliver Gomez all scoring. Mauricio Diuza equalised in the 72nd to force a draw.
