A total of 10 teams in the Chilean Liga DOS are currently battling for the top four post-season playoff spots. Sportiva Italiana, with a four point lead, continue to look the the strongest side in the league.
Sportiva Italiana go seven unbeaten
Sportiva Italiana recorded an away win of 56-68 over fellow playoff hopefuls Truenos de Talca to remain top of the Chile Liga DOS. Their record now extends to a remarkable seven straight league victories, giving them 25 points – four more than second placed Stadio Italiano. It also ended a run of three straight league victories for Truenos, who were hoping to keeping pushing for the top four.
Youngster Gaspar Hernández scored 16 points and recorded six rebounds for the winners. On the other side, Hebert Reyes had a double-double game, with 15 points and 15 rebounds for Truenos.
Ultimately the game came down to slightly better accuracy from Sportiva, who recorded a 35.5% three-point field goal conversion rate, compared to just 20% for Truenos.
Liceo Curicó come from behind to claim victory
Liceo Curicó had to dig deep against CD Manquehue in their last outing in the Chile LNB DOS. Their 74-63 victory means that they rise to fourth place with 19 points. CD Manquehue led the first and second set but couldn’t stand the consistent pressure coming from Liceo.
Manquehue lead the first set 18-16 thanks to a great performance from Casas, who scored two points to level the the score at 16-16. Casas then sought out the rebound to assist Fernandez, who finished well and ended the set on a high.
The second set was also close, finishing 22-18. Eventually Liceo Curicó started to turn the numbers in their favour. Rebolledo registered 27 points and won five rebounds for the eventual winners. For Manquehue, Schuler Casas scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds.
Liceo Curicó now sit in fourth, just a point behind Club Manquehue in third, though Manquehue have three games in hand over Liceo.
