New champions of the Chile LNB

Universidad de Concepción (UDEC) are the new champions of the Chile LNB league after a dramatic 71-68 extra time win in the fourth match of the series.


The route to the championship

UDEC won two of the first three matches to take a 2-1 lead over Southern Conference champion CD Valdivia.

In the first match, UDEC beat CD Valdivia 67-57. Carlos Milano scored 25 points, 16 rebounds and two assists for UDEC.

The second match was a close encounter. UDEC eventually took a 2-0 lead in the series but CD Valdivia  had the opportunity to level the scores with seconds to play but failed to take their chance and lost 58-56.

The Venezuelan Carlos Milano was again the MVP again after 14 points, 13 rebounds and four assists.

The third match  was won by CD Valdivia, 61-52, to keep their hopes alive.

Gerardo Isla scored eight points, nine rebounds and two assists to lead the victory.


Final match

CD Valdivia started strongly and led 16-13 after the first quarter.

For the second quarter, Evandro Arteaga became a key player for UDEC and helped them take the lead at half-time, going 35-24 in front.

For the third quarter, Enzo Amado scored nine points including a triple for Valdivia to narrow the gap to five points.

CD Valdivia levelled things up in the fourth quarter to take the game to extra time but UDEC then went up a few gears and a triple from Carlos Lauler helped secure the title.


Lino Saez the MVP

Lino Saez was MVP for the fourth match after 10 points, 11 rebounds and one assist.
