Chile LNB Liga Dos: Sportiva Italia at the summit

Sportiva Italia beat Truenos de Talca 83-62 to make it four wins from four and remain top of the Chile Liga LNB 2.

Besides Sportiva Italiana’s win, Tinguiririca de San Fernando, Árabe de Valparaíso, Stadio Italiano and Club Manquehue also got victories last Sunday to complete the second week of the tournament.

The leaders

Sportiva Italiana are now a point clear at the top of the table after they ended Truenos de Talca’s three match winning run.

Gaspar Hernández Chihuan and Federico Herrera with 24 and 19 points respectively were the standout performers for the hosts in the victory.

For Truenos Talca, Nick Morales impressed with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Another “Italian” at the top

Stadio Italiano, rose to second position in the table after they recorded a 77-65 away victory against Liceo de Curicó.

Piero Simonetti top-scored with 20 points for Stadio Italiano, while Cristian Urrutia added 19 points.

Sebastián Sáez led the fight for the home team, scoring 23 points.

The other sides looking for promotion

Tinguiririca de San Fernando have played just two matches but they have made a perfect start.

They beat Árabe Valparaiso in their opening game and then defeated Carlos Arturo Pratt 69-56.

For Tinguiririca, Felipe González scored 15 points including a triple, Oscar Becerra scored 14. For the home team, José Naranjo registered 16 points.

After three successive defeats, Árabe de Valparaíso got their season going with a 73-39 hammering of Club Brisas. Leonardo Giani and José Brito both managed 12 points, but the outstanding performance came from Patricio Briones, who scored 11 points and made 16 rebounds.
