Final battle for play-off spots

The regular season of the Chilean National League will come to an end this weekend with three spots still open for the play-offs from the Central Conference.

Only Universidad de Concepción (UDEC) in the Central Conference have secured a place in the play-offs from the Central Conference. The other three places will go to the wire and will be fought by Municipal Español de Talca, Basket UC and Colegio Los Leones, and also, Municipal Puente Alto, who have already finished their league season.


UDEC through to quarter-final

UDEC are top of the league with 33 points after 18 matches, winning 15 and losing three.

Puente Alto are in second, registering 30 points in 20 matches. Quilicura Basquet sit bottom of the table with 23 points from 20 matches.

In case two teams finish the tournament with same amount of points, head-to-head results will define who goes through.

Matches

On Friday and Saturday, a two match series will be played. Municipal Español de Talca will face Basket UC, while UDEL will do the same against Colegio Los Leones to decide who goes through.


South Conference

The South conference of LNB finished last weekend with CD Las Ánimas, Puerto Varas, CD Valdivia and Temuco UFRO all progressing to the quarter-finals.

CD Las Ánimas, who finished top of the group, will take on fourth-placed side Temuco UFRO on Monday. CD Las Ánimas will go in as favourites after winning all four matches against Temuco in the regular season.

The other semifinal of the Southern Conference will be played between Puerto Varas and CD Valdivia starting on August 2nd.

The quarter-finals will be played as a best-out-of-five match series.
