Al Wasl FC clinched the prestigious UAE President’s Cup title, outclassing their arch-rivals Al Nasr FC with a decisive 4-0 victory.

This victory heralds their triumphant return to the winner’s circle, ending a drought that lasted a decade.

The match showcased a stellar performance from Fabio Lima. Al Wasl’s star plater set the scoring in motion with a penalty at the close of the first half.

Al Wasl’s fervent fanbase, donned in their iconic yellow, filled the stadium with an electrifying atmosphere, cheering their team to victory. Despite Al Nasr’s initial competitiveness, the pivotal goals from Lima turned the tide. The situation for Al Nasr worsened with Moussa Ndiaye’s red card.

The victory not only secured Al Wasl’s place in history but also underscores their position as frontrunners in this season’s UAE league.

In celebration of their triumph, the Burj Khalifa illuminated in Al Wasl’s yellow hues.

Views from the Winners

Alfred Schreuder, Al Nasr’s coach, conceded that “nothing went according to plan” in the final.

“This wasn’t our day. We conceded two quick goals, which seemed to affect the confidence of the players. Congratulations to Al Wasl, they played like champions and deserve this trophy.”

Lima, with over 299 matches and 163 goals to his name, expressed his elation at the historic victory.

“I love my club and UAE, which is now my country.” Lima joined Al Wasl during the 2013 season and has also represented the UAE national team.

Al Wasl’s path to the final saw a convincing 4-1 victory over Ittihad Kalba, while Al Nasr earned their spot with a hard-won 4-3 victory against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club in the semi-final.
