Matchday two of the UAE ADNOC Pro League delivered some exhilarating action and spectacular goals.
Emirates 4 – 4 Ajman
Emirates clashed with Ajman in a thrilling opener. The legendary Barcelona player, Andres Iniesta found the back of the net in his debut home game, scoring in the 93rd minute.
It seemed his goal would secure the victory, but Ali Madan’s 99th-minute equalizer sealed a dramatic 4-4 draw.
Al Jazira 1 – 2 Al Wahda
In the Abu Dhabi derby, Al Wahda edged Al Jazira 2-1, capitalizing on two set-piece goals. Both teams had a ferocious set of fans to create an enthralling atmosphere.
Hatta 0 – 2 Al Ain
Al Ain cruised to a comfortable victory over Hatta FC. Both goals were scored by last season’s top scorer, Laba Kodjo, who continues his fine scoring prowess heading into the new season.
Al-Bateh 0 – 0 Ittihad Kalba
In a match with few chances, Al-Bateh and Ittihad Kalba had to settle for goalless draw.
Bani Yas 4 – 2 Al Nasr
In a game dominated by counter attacking football, Bani Yas secured a 4-2 comeback win having been 2-1 down.
Shabab Al Ahli 2 – 1 Khor Fakkan
Early pace setters, Shabab Al Ahli continue with maximum points. Two first half goals from the reigning Champions sealed the deal, although they had a scare with a late comeback from Khor Fakkan.
Sharjah 1 – 3 Al Wasl
In a lively match-up Al Wasl made it two wins from two at the start of the season. The visitors took an early lead in the 6th minute.
Sharjah were then awarded a penalty shortly after the opening goal. However, Al Wasl goalkeeper, Khaled Al-Senani expertly thwarted Caio Lucas’ shot.
It was then Al Wasl’s turn for a penalty. Ali Saleh was tackled inside the box by defender Mohammad Abdulbasit in the 31st minute. Fabio De Lima stepped up and scored from the resulting spot-kick.
There was then another penalty for the home side. This time Luan Pereira managed to reduce the deficit from the spot after stepping up and sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, to make it 2-1.
However, Caio Canedo score a decisive third goal for Al Wasl, assisted by Ali Saleh in stoppage time, to make it a joyful night for the away fans.
The win means Al Wasl sit third in the UAE ADNOC Pro League with six points. Sharjah are ninth with three points.
