It’s the business end of the season now, as just five points separate first from sixth place. The title could go to a number of teams.
Boca go top
Boca Juniors extended their undefeated run to 12 games as they defeated Aldosivi 2-1 at La Bombonera.
Martin Payero gave the home side the lead in the 11th minute when he latched onto a mix-up in the Aldosivi defence and curled his finish past their goalkeeper Jose Devecchi.
However, an equaliser came just five minutes later as Francisco Cerro’s cross was looped into the net from a header from Nicolas Valentini.
Los Xeneize’s winner came in added time in the first half, as a Luca Langoni squared pass led to Dario Benedetto tapping into an empty net.
It was a deserved win for Hugo Ibarra’s side who had 59% possession and 6 shots on target.
Boca are now top of the Liga Profesional with a game in hand. They are up against Sarmiento in their next game.
Second defeats third as Racing beat Tucumán
Racing moved up to second place in the league as they beat Atlético Tucumán 2-0 at El Cilindro.
The home side was ahead in just the 6th minute when Tucuman goalkeeper Carlos Lampe gifted the ball to Enzo Copetti who finished into an empty net.

12 minutes later, La Academia did have their second of the match through Eugenio Mena. His one-two with Copetti was placed into the bottom corner.
Fernando Gago’s side had 55% possession and 7 shots on target. Tucumán failed to register a single shot on target.
Racing are now second in the league, just one point behind Boca. They face Colon next. Atlético Tucumán slip down to third place, only behind Racing on goal difference. Carlos Tevez’s Rosario Central are their next opponents.
River Plate enter the conversation
River Plate made it three wins in a row with a 1-0 victory over Patronato. Los Millonarios came close to going behind in the first half but Franco Armani was on hand to save Justo Giani’s penalty.
River’s winner came in the 54th minute when Juan Fernando Quintero played in Miguel Borja who had time to compose himself before finishing into the bottom corner.
Any hopes of Patronato getting back into the game were dashed when Nicolas Castro was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Despite having 61% possession, Marcelo Gallardo’s side had just 2 shots on target to Patronato’s 5.
River move up to fourth in the league and just four points behind Boca. They play Platense in their next match. It’s a remarkable turnaround for Gallardo, given their poor start to the season.
