Ajax thrash PSV to open up four point lead

In a direct clash for top spot in the Eredivisie, Ajax dismantled PSV 5-0 to open up a four point lead over their rivals.

It finished off a memorable week for Erik Ten Hag’s side, who hammered Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the Champions League just a few days before.

PSV were without key forwards Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo but started brightly, creating a few good chances.

However, after riding the storm in the opening 15 minutes, the hosts never looked back. In the 19th minute, Steven Berghuis fired in to score his sixth goal against PSV in the last three seasons.

Dusan Tadic set up Sebastian Haller to double Ajax’s lead, before Haller turned provider to assist Anthony for the third goal after half-time.

The game was won with 20 minute remaining but there was time for Ajax to embarrass their fierce rivals.

Davy Klaasen came off the bench to score the fourth and then Tadic scored his 100th Eredivisie goal in style to make it 5-0.

PEC Zwolle finally manage to get first win in eventful game

Bram van Polen scored a 92nd minute penalty to give PEC Zwolle their first win of the season in dramatic style against Heracles.

Heracles had earlier had a goal disallowed by VAR for offside and then missed a penalty when Rai Vloet blasted a penalty over the bar. The win was PEC Zwolle’s first in 10 games but they still remain bottom, three points behind Sparta Rotterdam in 17th.

An injury time penalty decided the game between Go Ahead Eagles and Vitesse as Luuk Brouwers scored a late spot kick. Elsewhere, Utrecht remain third after a late winner by Sander van de Streek.
