Home sides dominate
League One saw another impressive weekend of action, where 21 of the 24 teams hit the net. There were five draws and only one away win on an eventful Saturday of football.
The most anticipated clash of the weekend came at the Stadium of Light where both teams didn’t find the net.
Sunderland beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from Carl Winchester. The away side had the majority of possession in the match, but they were unable to find a way past the Sunderland defence.
The Mackems will be happy though, as they sit second in the League One table, level on points with Wigan Athletic.

Callum Lang got the Latics off to a fine start after eight minutes when he scored from close range.
Wigan doubled their lead in the 46th minute when Charlie Wyke scored with a smart finish. Leam Richardson’s side made it five consecutive wins for the first time since 2017 with the victory on Saturday.
MK Dons are proving their early season form isn’t just a blip with another win. They beat Wycombe 1-0 at Stadium MK.
On-loan Spurs striker Troy Parrott slotted home a penalty in the 40th minute to give MK Dons the lead. The incident also saw the away side reduced to 10 men, with Anthony Stewart given his marching orders.
Wednesday and Rotheram concede at the death to draw; Plymouth seal win at the death
Sheffield Wednesday continue to adapt to life in League One.
The Owls could only manage a 1-1 draw away at Ipswich Town, although the hosts were close to a home defeat until Conor Chaplin popped up with the equaliser in the 90th minute.

Fellow South Yorkshire side Rotherham also drew 1-1.
The Millers were on course for a win until Wes Harding gave away a penalty in the 90th minute, and Crewe Alexandra striker Chris Porter slotted home past Viktor Johansson to level the scores.
Doncaster’s torrid start continued with a 2-1 defeat away at Plymouth Argyle.
Doncaster went 1-0 up thanks to Jordy Hiwula’s 54th minute goal, but two penalties, scored by Luke Jephcott and Conor Grant in the 68th and 92nd minute respectively, saw the home side take the points to remain fourth in League One.
Nigel Adkins’ Charlton are still struggling to find a second win of the season. Charlton drew 2-2 with Portsmouth. Morcambe ended a thriller with 10 men vs Accrington Stanley.
The game ended 3-3 with goals for the home side from Cole Stockton (15′, 81′) and Adam Phillips (27′). Colby Bishhop (19′, 68′) and Matt Butcher (21′) scored the goals for Accrington.
Shrewsbury Town won 2-1 against AFC Wimbledon at New Meadow. Lincoln City climbed up the table thanks to a 2-1 away win at Burton Albion.
Lewis Fiorini and the talented Anthony Scully put the Imps into a 2-0 lead before Conor Shaughnessy halved the deficit late on.
The other results in the league saw Cambridge United draw 2-2 with Fleetwood Town, and Oxford United draw 1-1 with Gillingham.

MK Dons and Plymouth Argyle are just a point behind the top two, while Rotherham and Wycombe make up the top six.
Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday are down in 10th and 11th after neither team picking up a win in their last four games.
Doncaster remain at the foot of the League One table on four points. Crewe Alexandra and Charlton side are the other two sides in the bottom three on six points each.
