Tom Pearce’s ball from the left wasn’t cleared, allowing Lang to fire home – the first player to do so against Portsmouth this season.
MK Dons continued their good form with a 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley.
Mo Eisa scored his third goal of the season after a twisting run into the box. Stanley were punished for poor finishing five minutes from the end, when Matt O’Reilly slid the ball home to make certain of the points.
Cambridge maintained their solid start with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.
A neat first-half move resulted in Shilow Tracey sweeping the ball home from the edge of the box to give United the lead. For all Bolton’s pressing, a deflected effort from Josh Sheehan bouncing off the post was as good as it got.
Plymouth and Fleetwood played out a 1-1 draw at Home Park.
Ryan Hardie dispatched a left-foot effort across Alex Cairns to give Argyle the lead before Callum Camps stretched brilliantly to get on the end of a cross from the left to equalize before half time.
Jordan Garrick almost won it three minutes from time but his curling strike cannoned off the crossbar.
Ipswich Town blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against AFC Wimbledon. A Joe Piggott penalty and Wes Burns’ thunderbolt gave Town what looked to be a comfortable victory.

But a header from Ben Heneghan gave the visitors hope before Jack Rudoni scrambled a 95th-minute equaliser to leave Paul Cook’s winless side in the bottom four.
Rotherham took bragging rights in the South Yorkshire derby with a 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers.

Scott Flinders produced a fingertip save late on to ensure a point apiece.
A James Henry hat-trick gave free-scoring Oxford United a 3-1 victory over Lincoln City.
Two strikes from 20 yards and a second-half penalty was enough to give Oxford their seventh straight home League win and while Anthony Scully pulled a goal back with a penalty late on, it was too little, far too late.
Crewe suffered their fifth straight defeat without scoring at Charlton Athletic, who ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
Quick goals from Diallang Jaiyesimi and Jayden Stockley gave Charlton complete control early on. Crewe had chances but Callum McFadzean and Chris Porter were both denied by fantastic saves by Craig McGilivray.
Shrewbury produced a brilliant comeback to overcome Gillingham 2-1 in a game which saw three red cards shown after a melee late on.
Jack Turner had given the Gills the lead but 17 year-old Tom Watson replied with a stunning overhead kick into the top corner. Sam Cosgrove swept home the winner 20 minutes from time.
