Bodø/Glimt held to a draw

Reigning champions Bodø/Glimt were held to a 1-1 draw at Valerenga, taking a point following a difficult game where they were dominated for large parts.

The match

Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper, Nikita Khaikin, was busy in the first-half as he pulled off a number of saves to deny the hosts.

Henrik Udahl headed over from close range and was then denied a goal when the flag went up for offside after he tapped in.

Osame Sahraoui curled a shot just wide of the far post after a brilliant nutmeg in the centre of the pitch.

In the second half, the league-leaders improved and took the lead in the 53rd minute when Ola Solbakken headed home after Ulrik Saltnes’ flick on from a corner.

But Valerenga showed some fighting spirit and levelled midway through the second half through Jonatan Tollås Nation.

It was the least they deserved and it could have been more but Amor Layouni was denied by Khaikin.

What does it mean?

It was the second successive game that Bodø/Glimt had failed to win away from home, while Valerenga remain fifth after their fourth draw of the season.

Molde win to set up top-two battle

Ohi Omoijuanfo scored a brace as Molde beat Stabæk 2-1 to go level on points with Bodø/Glimt at the top of the table. The Molde striker has now scored nine goals in nine Eliteserien appearances.

He opened the scoring after 15 minutes – picking the ball up at the edge of the box, turning, and firing an unstoppable strike into the corner.

His second came five minutes later. The hosts regained the ball in the centre of the pitch and midfielder Eirik Ulland Andersen fed a delicious through ball into the path of Omoijuanfo, who slotted a shot into the bottom corner.

Kosuke Kinoshita pulled one back in the second half, but Molde held on to win their third straight game.

What does it mean?

Erling Moe’s side have the opportunity of going top of the table when they visit the league-leaders on Thursday in a mouthwatering game. Stabæk have lost their last three and are second-bottom.

Elsewhere, Kristiansund were thrashed 3-0 by Haugesund in the most surprising result of the weekend. It was their first defeat in six, following five successive wins.

Defeats for the chasers

Rosenborg were also beaten, losing 1-0 at home to Sarpsborg. It was their third defeat in their past five games, and they are now six points off the top. Kristiansund are a point better off and have a game in hand on the top two.
