Bayern face Stuttgart with title nearing closer
Bayern Munich host Stuttgart in the Bundesliga with the lead at the top extended to four points after title rivals RB Leipzig slipped up last weekend.
Bayern form
Hansi Flick’s side are bidding for their ninth consecutive Bundesliga title and despite a closer title race this season with some defensive frailties, the champions are on track to do that.
Bayern have won their last three games scoring 12 goals but have conceded in each of their last five Bundesliga games and have kept just four clean sheets all season.
The Bavarian club have conceded 35 goals in 25 league games, the joint highest in the top seven. However, they have scored 74 in the opposition’s goal in 25 games, averaging just under three goals a game.
Robert Lewandowski notched yet another goal last weekend, he has 32 in 24 games and needs just eight to match Gerd Muller’s record.
Stuttgart form
Stuttgart are having a very good season back in the top flight after they were promoted last season.
They have won three of their last four and have collected 21 of their 36 points this season away from home. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side have won six of their 13 away games and boast the fourth best away record in the Bundesliga this season.
Head-to-head
The champions beat Stuttgart 3-1 in the reverse fixture but Stuttgart won 4-1 at the Allianz Arena in a famous win for Die Roten.
