Freiburg II slip up
Freiburg II’s lead at the top of the German Regionalliga Südwest was reduced to just one point after they suffered a surprise 3-2 derby defeat to Bahlinger SC.
The match
Yannick Haeringer slotted into the corner from close range to give Bahlinger the lead after two minutes but Guillaume Furrer equalied seven minutes later.
Bahlinger winger Hasan Pepic curled in a brilliant shot with his left foot just before the hour-mark which left Freiburg goalkeeper Niclas Thiede with no chance.
Emilio Kehrer equalised with 16 minutes to go after capitalising on a defensive mistake. However, for the third time in the match, the hosts took the lead.
Santiago Fischer ran on to a direct ball and steered a shot into the far corner to spark delirious scenes from the Bahlinger players. It was his 15th goal of the season.
What it means
It was Freiburg’s first defeat in 10 games and their fourth of the season. Bahlinger are up to eighth after their third win in four games.
Chasing pack capitalise
Kickers Offenbach and TSV Steinbach both took advantage of Freiburg losing and are now just a point behind the leaders.
Kickers Offenbach are in second and won their sixth game in a row with a 1-0 win against TSG Balingen. Mathias Fetsch scored from the spot. Kickers have won seven of their last 10 games, drawing the other three. They have the best defence in the division with just 15 goals conceded in 25 games.

TSV Steinbach hammered struggling Sonnenhof Grossaspach 4-0 to make it back-to-back wins in the league.
Steinbach had gone through a tricky spell where they were knocked off the top of the league after no win in three games, but two convincing wins has put them in title contention again.
Ko Sawada headed in on the line after 10 minutes to put the visitors ahead, before Serhat Ilhan guided a cross into the net from close range just after half time
Soeren Eismann and Christian Maerz added gloss to a thumping win for Thomas Brdaric’s men.
