Merseyside derby
It’s the Merseyside derby on Saturday as Liverpool host Everton in the Premier League. Everton are looking to beat Liverpool at Anfield for the first time since September 1999.
Liverpool form
Liverpool have lost their last three matches at home for the first time since 1963, after embarking on a 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side responded to their 3-1 capitulation at Leicester with a commanding 2-0 win against Leipzig in the Champions League. Despite this, they have lost five of their last eight matches in all competitions.
The Reds are sixth in the Premier League, two points off the top four. They have won just two of their last 10 league games and are 16 points behind Manchester City. The reigning champions are without a win in five games at Anfield.
Everton form
Everton were beaten 3-1 by Man City on Wednesday and are seventh in the league, three points behind their neighbours with a game in hand.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have the fourth best away record this season with seven wins from 11 matches. Also, they are unbeaten in their last seven away games, winning five. However, they have won just one of their last six league matches however.
Head-to-head
The Toffees have drawn 10 and lost 13 of their 23 visits to Anfield since 1999. They drew 2-2 against Liverpool in October this season in an infamous match that saw Virgil van Dijk suffer a season ending injury.
Liverpool have won their last four home derbies and six of the last seven. Klopp has never lost to Everton and has never trailed. The last time Everton led at Anfield was in January 2011 in the FA Cup, and the last time they were ahead in the league was in 2002.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 23 meetings with Everton in all competitions (W11, D12).
