United face Saints
Manchester United play host to Southampton this evening in the Premier League with the aim of returning to winning ways after two games without a win.
Man United form
Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side are second in the Premier League table after being knocked off the top by neighbours Manchester City.
United drew 0-0 at Arsenal on Saturday in a cautious and dull game. It was an another example of their struggles against the ‘Big Six’ this season – they are yet to beat any of the top sides in a Premier League game or score from open play.
The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 at home by rock-bottom Sheffield United last Wednesday in a shock defeat and they have lost four of their 10 league home games this season.
Bruno Fernandes is without a goal or assist in his last five Premier League games.
Southampton form
Southampton have won just once in their last eight Premier League games.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men were unfortunate losing 1-0 to Aston Villa at the weekend with a marginal offside call and a controversial VAR call denying them of at least a draw. Emiliano Martinez was also excellent in the Villa goal.
Head-to-head
Man United are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games with Southampton (W4, D5).
However, Southampton have lost just two of their last seven visits to Old Trafford.
United have come from behind to win 10 Premier League games against Southampton, including coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 this season at St Mary’s.
