Lead cut at the top

In Group 1 of the Liga Premier in Mexico, leaders Alacranes de Durango were beaten by Gavilanes FC Matamoros 1-0.

The result meant that the lead at the top was reduced to one point. Colima are in second, one point off the top after their 4-0 hammering of U.A Zacatecas. Reboceros de la Piedad are third and two points off Colima after their 4-1 win over bottom side Cimarrones de Sonora II.

Mineros de Fresnillo have won their last five games and are on 27 points, seven points off the top. They beat Tecos 2-1. Juan Carmona and Jose Vazpuez scored for Mineros.


Cruz Azul in control

In Group 2 of the Liga Premier Apertura, Cruz Azul still lead by two points over Cafessa Jalisco at the top of the table and have a game in hand.

The league leaders beat Club Canoneros Marina 2-0 while Cafessa Jalisco also won 2-0 against Zitacuaro.


Raico the hero

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Raico Arozarena saved three penalties as Cafetaleros de Chiapas II won 4-2 in the shootout after a 2-2 draw against Inter Playa del Carmen in normal time.
